Emu Feather Tassels

You will Need

Indigenous Inspired Art

Make a peace of art using paper, canvas or other materials. download our Symbols poster and make something that Indigenous Peoples have been doing for 1000’s Years.

 

WARNING: Can be a little token when done inappropriately  

Cook on the fire (If safe)

It is possible, yes you can have good safety in place for you to have a fire at the centre. you can cook fired scones, meat or anything, i truly Think its great and of course the kids love it.

Make some ochre or Clay painting


It is possible, yes you can have good safety in place for the kids by using some of our face painting methods, or inviting in a parent and getting them to do it.

 

 


Ply Animal – Symbol Cut outs

Get ply wood, cut it out to the shape your looking for and then paint.

Screw on to fences, place in trees, have as a mural! The list goes on. i personally love these -Kerry 

 

Kerry’s Hints

i sometimes make them out of hardwood Tomato stakes buy sanding them down and rounding the ends.

 

  • Use right Wood for out side!

  • Remember the right paint for out side

  • Screw onto brick, wood even trees!

Make some Clap Sticks

Get some dowel, round/rectangle shaped wood or sticks, make sure they sound good (Australian Timber is best) then paint them up and start your songs and dance!

Hint:

Tomato hardwood stakes make great clap-sticks, just sand the ends down.

Traditional Games

Triditional Games are so so fun! some games are simalar to Mainstream games like Bunya Bunya (Rob the nest.

The one in the picture is 

Hunter and the Kangaroo

  1. everyone stand in a circle
  2. pick a hunter
  3. pick 1 or more “Kangaroo-Porky pines-other”
  4. the aim is to alow the animals to pass with your hands up! but when the hunter comes around its hands down and blocks the hunter.
  5. no one is allowed to barge though the hands, and of course time limits for the “hunt” and when there is 5 seconds to go, make sure all kids sign out the countdown

Hint:

  1. kangaroos jump, so participants can imitate the animal they represent!
