Cultural Awareness Training In Your Workplace

This course can be tailored to suit any workplace where employees wish to improve their understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and culture, and to offer appropriate and effective service delivery in a culturally safe environment.

Administrative, community services professionals and other professional and technical staff will enjoy learning in a culturally safe environment and be able to ask and talk about how to engage with First nations people, learn First Nations concepts, and participate within a cultural appropriate workplace.

Learning objectives include

  • Increased awareness and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories and cultures
  • Increased knowledge of the impact of past government policies and practices on health and well-being (including colonisation, removal from land, and cultural dislocation)

  • Increased skill in providing culturally appropriate services, developing care plans and care packages, and utilising Medicare Item numbers and referrals to maximise health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients
